Alexander Horsman
Alex Horsman is senior vice president in Northmarq’s Phoenix office, where he focuses exclusively on raising and structuring various equity execution types. These include co-GP, LP joint ventures, preferred equity, programmatic ventures, Opportunity Zone, and OpCo/platform level investments for sponsors and developers of all asset types. He has a specialty within the residential sector of RE including conventional multifamily, Build-to-Rent, student housing, etc. His equity relationships range from single-family offices, middle-market & large-scale PE funds, international capital sources, and large institutional investors.
Having experience across several sides of the table in terms of raising capital for and from sophisticated investors, Alex has a unique understanding of the fund and investment management world helping to create strong synergies and alignment with the strategies and mandates of equity capital sources.
Prior to his tenure at Northmarq, Alex was a director at Blue Sand Securities, a boutique placement agent firm based in New York City — a firm focused on a wide scope of alternative investment products for clients including hedge funds, private equity, private credit, venture capital, direct deals, private placement SPVs, and large co-invests. He also spent time focused on the real estate side of investing with Walton Global, a large land-backing firm and investment manager based in Scottsdale. There he focused on raising fund capital for new investments vehicles, LP and co-GP capital for large programmatic ventures, and LP capital for individual projects including land lot developments and build-to-rent across the sunbelt.
Alex earned his Bachelor of Science degree from the WP Carrey School of Business at Arizona State University, majoring in finance and minoring in psychology and engineering. Additionally, he has held multiple FINRA securities licenses including the Series 7, 63, and 24. He resides in Scottsdale, Arizona, along with his wife, Melissa, and two daughters, Olivia and Charlotte.
In his spare time away from Northmarq and family life, Alex teaches Brazilian Jiu Jitsu classes to adults and kids and received his black belt in the martial art in 2021. Alex has competed professionally in combat sports, creating a drive and discipline heavily utilized in his approach to servicing clients’ needs and building relationships across the industry.
