MAREJ honors Northmarq leaders in Best of 2025 awards

MINNEAPOLIS (March 23, 2026) — Northmarq’s Chris Doerr, Jason Smith and Kenneth Gentzel have been recognized in the Mid Atlantic Real Estate Journal’s (MAREJ) Best of 2025 awards, an annual roundup spotlighting the region’s top brokers, teams and notable transactions.

Top Financial Deal: Solaire Portfolio

Managing Directors Jason Smith and Kenneth Gentzel earned the Top Financial Deal award for arranging $141.73 million in financing for the Solaire Portfolio, a two-asset, 493-unit portfolio of luxury high-rise apartment communities in the Washington, D.C., metro. 

The portfolio includes:

 

  • Solaire 7607 Old Georgetown — a newly delivered, 22story, 198unit tower in Bethesda.

  • Solaire 1150 Ripley — a 16story, 295unit community in Downtown Silver Spring.

Both assets are located in high-demand, transit-served neighborhoods and feature a full suite of Class A amenities.

The transaction reflected the strength of institutional capital’s appetite for core multifamily products in high-barrier, metro-served submarkets.
