Kevin McCarthy promoted to managing director in Northmarq’s Chicago office

CHICAGO, ILLINOIS (February 23, 2023) — Northmarq’s Chicago debt and equity team announces the promotion of Kevin McCarthy to managing director. McCarthy will co-manage the office’s growth, facilitate debt and equity placements, and manage lender and client relationships for the office along with managing directors Sue Blumberg and Brett Hood.

“Kevin has surpassed his goals each year and has truly earned the managing director position after demonstrating his leadership abilities throughout the company. He is a huge asset in our office and is very well respected within the industry and by his peers. We are thrilled to work with Kevin and have him continue to grow our office well into the future,” said Blumberg.

McCarthy brings 15 years of experience in the commercial real estate industry working with both owners and capital providers. In his time at Northmarq he has closed over 150 deals with more than $2 billion in transaction volume, leveraging the company’s relationships with Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, FHA, life company correspondents, commercial banks, and CMBS lenders. He has worked extensively across all major property types and is primarily focused on multi-family, industrial, and mixed-use debt and equity placement throughout the Midwest.

McCarthy joined Northmarq in 2014 as a financial analyst and was later promoted to vice president in 2018, to senior vice president in 2021, and now managing director in 2023. His achievements include being named Analyst of the Year, a Top-2 producer as an Associate Producer, Rookie of the Year in 2020 and is a member of the NorthMarq Servicing Committee.

Prior to Northmarq, McCarthy began his career at Bank of America and US Bank focused on CRE and CLO securitization. Kevin holds a B.S. in Finance from the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University and is active with the IU Real Estate Alumni Network.
