MINNEAPOLIS (April 9, 2018)NorthMarq Capital employees at its Minneapolis corporate headquarters banded together to assemble 50 welcome baskets for new residents at properties owned by Aeon, a non-profit developer, owner and manager of affordable apartments and townhomes servicing nearly 8,000 people annually in the Twin Cities. The baskets included basic items for a new home, such as multipurpose cleaners, towels, brooms, bathroom supplies, clothes hangers, and cookware. All items were either purchased by the company or donated by employees. “We are extremely proud of our employees who volunteered their time, as well as our commitment to Aeon,” said Joanne Allen, senior vice president of NorthMarq Capital’s Human Resources Department and event organizer. “Our crew even managed to fill additional laundry baskets with much-needed items—thanks to our expedient work and generous surplus of supplies donated by our employees.” The effort marks yet another collaboration between NorthMarq Capital and Aeon, with previous partnerships including Aeon’s Paint-it-Forward program, landscape cleanup at several properties, participation in Aeon’s Young Professionals group, corporate sponsorship and individual donations. Tashia Weisenburger Pomroy, community engagement manager at Aeon, noted the importance of partners like NorthMarq Capital. “NorthMarq’s generosity has meant more of our neighbors have a place to call home,” she said. “With NorthMarq’s continued support, we are building and preserving more affordable housing throughout the Twin Cities. Last year we saved 1,190 affordable apartment homes in the Twin Cities – all possible because of the support of partners like NorthMarq.”

Grim statistics like these make partnerships like NorthMarq’s with Aeon become even more crucial. “With partners like NorthMarq, together we are providing the resources and support to make home a reality for more of our neighbors in need,” concluded Pomroy. “We are so grateful to have NorthMarq as a friend, partner and supporter—you are the reason why we can build and preserve affordable housing.”
