NorthMarq donates $160,000 to support hunger relief across the U.S.

Feeding America, other non-profits across the U.S. receive employee, company and Pohlad Family Foundation financial support

MINNEAPOLIS, MINNESOTA (May 4, 2020) -- In early April, NorthMarq announced a $78,000 company donation to Feeding America, which supports food banks across the country where the company has offices. In addition, CEO Jeffrey Weidell encouraged employees to donate either money, blood, or time to support non-profits during the difficulties resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic.

As a result, 80 employees including the entire Executive Committee made personal donations to either Feeding America or other local food banks. Many other employees volunteered to deliver or prepare food, make facial masks, or support local first responders. Because NorthMarq is part of the Pohlad Companies organization, those monetary donations were eligible for matching donations from the Pohlad Family Foundation. The combination of the match, employee and company contributions exceeded $160,000 in April.

“It was obvious that we needed to immediately escalate our chartable efforts, especially in the area of food insecurity, to give more help to our communities. I’m extremely proud of the response from employees, and thankful for the additional support from our ownership,” said Weidell.

As part of its benefits plan, NorthMarq offers employees paid time off to volunteer and access to the matching gift program through the Pohlad Family Foundation.  One employee who donated both to a food bank and to the Red Cross blood drive, said, “I really appreciate the company’s commitment during such an important time of need. I have been reading about the enormous need from local food banks and was in the process of making my own donation locally when I found out about the company’s response. Now my donation has been doubled and I am so appreciative!” said Melissa Carr-Buswell, senior closing officer-NorthMarq’s Fannie Mae & FHA platform.
