NorthMarq’s Brian Pounds to chair 2021 MBA MPact Council for young servicing professionals

MINNEAPOLIS (NOV. 4, 2020) -- Brian Pounds, assistant vice president/portfolio manager-Loan Servicing, has been appointed as Chair of the Mortgage Bankers Association’s (MBA) MPact Servicing Council through the end of 2021. Pounds was an integral part of launching MPact, MBA’s network for young professionals in the real estate finance industry. The group targets servicing and origination professionals under the age of 36 for professional development and networking.

“Brian has had a vision for this new group solely focused on the servicing professionals in the commercial side of the business,” said Kelli Burke, MBA Vice President of Commercial Member Engagement. “He’s been methodical and strategic in organizing the group and the focus around career development, networking and professional development.”

Pounds, who leads a team of five, has been with NorthMarq since 2014. He became interested in leadership opportunities with MBA during the association’s 2016 Commercial/Multifamily Servicing and Technology Conference in Dallas, Texas, and volunteered to join the conference’s planning committee, serving on both the Asset Management sub-committee, as well as the Learning Labs sub-committee. In 2019, he was instrumental in creating two separate councils within the MBA’s MPact group – one focused on originations, and the other on servicing.

“This committee structure will better serve the members’ distinct career paths in Servicing as opposed to the traditional group that focused on Originations,” he said. “In addition, professionals in Servicing are an integral part of the client relationship and this focus can help our members better define their career opportunities for the future.”

Tarrah Mueller leads the portfolio management group and has encouraged Pounds to lend his leadership to the committee. “Brian enjoys being an active member in the commercial real estate and loan servicing industries. Obtaining this new position is a great opportunity for Brian, and exceptional representation of the character and professionalism at NorthMarq,” she said.
