Earlier this year, NorthMarq Capital’s Executive Committee budgeted $50,000 to fund non-profit organizations focused on expanding affordable housing and reducing homelessness in markets across the country. The committee received qualifying requests from employees across the regional offices and has now sent checks totaling $50,000 to organizations in 10 different markets.
“We are pleased to donate to non-profits that are doing great work to support affordable housing and address homeless issues,” said Jeff Weidell, president-NorthMarq Capital. “The Executive Committee was impressed by the level of passion and interest this introductory program received from offices across the country.”
Both reducing homelessness and improving opportunities for affordable housing align with the mission of the Pohlad Family Foundation. The Executive Committee reviewed community giving budgets from the last few years and saw an opportunity to expand the company’s giving outside our headquarters in the Twin Cities. In Minnesota, the company has been supporting Aeon and CommonBond, two organizations operating in the affordable housing space, with financial support, employee leadership and employee service projects.
“As a national company and given our owner’s commitment to the community, we thought it was important to extend our company’s support outside of Minnesota,” said Mike Myers, COO. “In addition to the financial donation, we encourage our employees to also donate their time to support the local efforts.”
The Executive Committee awarded grants to the following organizations:
