Forty Semadeni

Forty Semadeni is a senior vice president at NorthMarq Capital Finance, LLC, where he serves as the FHA chief underwriter and Co-FHA program manager. Semadeni joined the NorthMarq in 2015, bringing with him 15 years of FHA experience and having either personally underwritten or overseen over $1 billion in HUD transactions. Semadeni began his professional career in banking as a branch manager at Fifth Third Bank in Cincinnati. In 1997, he moved to Dallas and spent four years at Associates Capital Corporation in construction equipment lending before making a move to the commercial real estate mortgage banking industry. After his time at Associates, he began his career in FHA finance with GMAC Commercial Mortgage as an analyst and processor. Following two years with GMAC, he spent a short tenure with Lend Lease Mortgage Capital as a Fannie Mae production analyst, before getting back into FHA with a move to Arbor Commercial Mortgage as an associate FHA Underwriter. Following Arbor, in 2006 he joined Column Guaranteed, which eventually merged with Walker & Dunlop. During that time he earned his MAP and LEAN certifications, was promoted to Deputy Chief Underwriter and managed an underwriting team in Dallas. Semadeni became a part of the ACRE team (formerly Alliant Capital) in 2011 as the FHA Chief Underwriter, focusing on both multifamily and healthcare transactions. He was the first person hired in the FHA group of that company and was charged with creating and leading this new FHA platform. In this capacity, he facilitated the initial licenses for the company (FHA Mortgagee, MAP, and LEAN) and also had responsibility for staffing for the group, budgeting, setting up policies and procedures and creating a comprehensive and compliant Quality Control Plan. As the business progressed, additional tasks were required, including assisting in obtaining the company’s Ginnie Mae Issuer approval, which was earned immediately prior to the acquisition of the Alliant debt group. Most recently, he served as a Director and FHA Chief MAP Underwriter at Hunt Mortgage Group, formerly Centerline Mortgage Capital, a wholly owned subsidiary of Hunt Companies. Semadeni earned his Bachelor of Science in Finance from Miami University in 1995. He is both a MAP and LEAN approved underwriter with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, and is active in the Mortgage Bankers Association.
