When NorthMarq receives positive comments from a lender, borrower or internal co-worker, the referenced employees are nominated for one of three internal recognition programs: the Extra Mile and Champion awards as well as the new Karen Pribnow Award for Excellence in Servicing. These programs not only highlight exceptional work, but also continue to motivate staff to go the extra mile for their team and clients.
While the requirements of each award are unique, they all underscore the operating philosophy of NorthMarq Capital as a whole: better relationships deliver better results.
Karen Pribnow Award for Excellence in Servicing
Karen Pribnow retired as director of the Servicing Department in 2013 after 40 years with NorthMarq Capital. Karen led the department as the portfolio grew from $500 million in 1988 to $41 billion in 2013, and the department expanded from five to 100 employees. Karen believed in providing quality results and superior customer service, and she was well-known and respected by everyone in the industry. Award nominees are judged on criteria based on the qualities that made Karen such an influential team member, including honor, competence, commitment, customer service and other measures.
Recent Karen Pribnow Award for Excellence Recipient: Lorraine Gersbach, Loan Portfolio Manager – Mt. Laurel, New Jersey
Lorraine was recognized with the Karen Pribnow Award for Excellence due to her character and integrity and for being an employee who always “does the right thing.” Lorraine uses her 32 years of experience in the industry (29 years with NorthMarq Capital!) to teach and mentor her entire team to encompass the same customer service practices and values she embodies. While her interest in the ever-changing deal structures and management strategies drives her thirst for knowledge and education, customer service is where Lorraine truly excels. She has the ability to manage difficult relationships and develop favorable connections with those she works with internally and externally.
Extra Mile Award
The purpose of the Extra Mile Award is to identify individuals who go above and beyond their job for external customers, defined as borrower or lender, to provide support with a transaction.
Recent Extra Mile Award Recipient: Jennifer Lindell, Loan Portfolio Analyst – Minneapolis
Several asset managers at a top lending source expressed their appreciation of Jennifer’s exceptional customer support. Feedback from this prominent lender highlighted her dependability, humor and thoughtfulness. “She has made an effort on her own to reach out and form a relationship with each of us. Jennifer always goes above and beyond!”
The Champions Award recognizes employees who provide exceptional customer service to internal clients. Nominees are selected based on the best representation of character, competence and commitment resulting in exceptional customer service.
Recent Champion Award Recipient: Jack Besse, Loan Portfolio Analyst – Minneapolis
Jack demonstrated the qualities of a Champion through his enthusiasm, inquisitiveness and willingness to take on any task presented. He is the newest member of the Agency team and made himself valuable immediately through his eagerness and ability to undertake additional duties outside of his portfolio. Jack does not shy away from complex assignments and continues to excel and grow in his role. He is dedicated to producing high-quality work and achieving results by digging deeply into problems in order to fully understand the task at hand.
